Roberto Ridi
Roberto Ridi is an Italian photographer and visual storyteller whose work explores humanity, memory, and the relationship between people and place. A professional photographer since 1980, his early work focused on black-and-white portraiture and social storytelling, later expanding into nature reportage and long-term cultural documentation.
Over the decades, Roberto has produced numerous photography books and major archival projects dedicated to the Italian islands and the Tuscan Archipelago. His images have been published internationally across Europe, America, and Asia, and featured in television reports by major European broadcasters.
He has collaborated extensively with cultural institutions, tourism associations, and national parks, creating large-scale photographic archives and public installations. His recent projects explore island identity, heritage, and environmental narratives through photography and contemporary art.
Since 2018, Roberto has served as a judge for the World Water Day Photo Contest, an international competition supported by UN-Water and the European Community. He is currently developing an ongoing anthropological project on island identity titled Anima Isolana (Island Soul).
